Soul Sacrifice by Santana at Woodstock

According to a video interview I saw with Carlos Santana (in an exhibit at the Music Experience Museum in Seattle), Carlos was on acid during his performance at Woodstock. He'd apparently mis-timed the LSD and ended up baked on stage. He said he felt snakes growing out of the guitar. But somehow he pulls it off--and makes some awesomely classic guitar faces while he's doing it.

Note that Michael Shrieve, the drummer, was only 19 years old at Woodstock...

Video: I'm going home by Alvin Lee/Ten Years After @ Woodstock '69

I always liked Alvin Lee's over the top, showboat performance at Woodstock, although I have never actually purchased an album by him/them.

Video: Crosby Stills and Nash at Woodstock '69 perform Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (with lyrics)

CSN perform the great song by Stephen Stills, Suite: Judy Blue Eyes (aka Judy Collins) at Woodstock in 1969. It was one of their very first public appearances, and as Stephen Stills said "We're scared shitless."

Suite: Judy Blue Eyes
by Stephen Stills, performed by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young At Woodstock, 1969.

It's getting to the point
Where I'm no fun any more
I am sorry
Sometimes it hurts
So badly I must cry out loud
I am lonely

{Refrain}
I am yours
You are mine
You are what you are
You make it hard

Remember what we've said, and done
And felt about each other
Oh, babe, have mercy
Don't let the past remind us
Of what we are not now
I am not dreaming

{Refrain}

Tearing yourself
Away from me now, you are free
And I am crying
This does not mean
I don't love you, I do, that's forever
Yes, and for always

{Refrain}

Something inside
Is telling me that I've got your secret
Are you still listening?
Fear is the lock
And laughter the key to your heart
And I love you

{Refrain}
And you make it hard
And you make it hard
And you make it hard

Friday evening
Sunday in the afternoon
What have you got to lose
Tuesday morning
Please be gone, I'm tired of you
What have you got to lose

Can I tell it like it is Catch me I'm falling
Listen to me baby
It's my heart that's suffering Catch me I'm dying
It's dyin' and that's what I have to lose

I've got an answer
I'm going to fly away
What have I got to lose?
Will you come see me
Thursdays and Saturdays
What have you got to lose

Chestnut brown canary
Ruby throated sparrow
Sing a song, don't be long
Thrill me to the marrow

Voices of the angels
Ring around the moonlight
Asking me, said she so free
How can you catch the sparrow

Lacy lilting lady
Losing love lamenting
Change my life, make it right
Be my lady

Do do do do do, do do do do do do
Do do do do do, do do do do

John Sebastian Plays Younger Generation At Woodstock

John Sebastian was wandering around the Woodstock festival digging the scene and completelty blitzed on LSD when he was recruited to play for half a million people or so. Due to the traffic jams, etc., the headliners weren't able to get there in time, so they recruited John and Richie Havens to play. John was just about to release his post Loving Spoonful albun "John Sebastian" and had some great new tunes to roll out. His addled patter became one of the highlights of the Woodstock documentary. Younger Generation appears on his first solo album.
